Project Coordinator
House of Helsinki is a volunteer development organisation looking for a temporary coordinator for the Refufin project to develop volunteer activities and help Ukrainian refugees who have already arrived in Finland.
The Refufin project operated in 2022 entirely on a volunteer basis, helping Ukrainians to arrive in Finland from Poland free of charge. With over 80 volunteers, Refufin helped more than 3000 people arrive safely in Finland, provided over 100 translations for partners, and advised and supported over 6000 war refugees through chat.
In 2023, the House of Helsinki Ry received STEA funding for Refufin for three years. Darya Gulik, who developed the Refufin project, will continue as project manager, and we are now looking for a coordinator to join our team. The position is temporary until 31.12.2025, and we are seeking commitment for the whole project duration.
The coordinator's work will include training and supporting volunteers in general, social media management, organising events, and developing basic activities with the project manager. The role also involves direct contact with refugees who seek support from Refufin, so we expect the person to gain the needed knowledge and act with empathy. The role will involve crisis work, depending on the current situation of the Ukraine crisis.
The project is in its first year and we always react to the current situation of Ukrainian refugees, so it is very likely that the role and responsibilities change over time. We expect the chosen candidate to be adaptable and open to change.
