Volunteers of House of Helsinki participated in the lovely event organized by Moniheli, City of Helsinki and HOAY. Thank you all for the warm reception and excellent organization of the event! It was great to enjoy nature together in multicultural company.
Each member could plant his own tree and thus grow roots in Finland. As a result, almost two hundred tree seedlings were planted in Central Park of Helsinki.
Fatim Diarra, Chairperson of the Helsinki City Council, was one of the speakers at the event. She pointed out that Helsinki has always been a city of newcomers.
While trees bring all groups of people together, for instance, when they can plant trees. It is a good opportunity for engagement of the international community and capacity-building that enhances the life’s quality in our neighborhood. All cultures, genders and ages have an important role at the tree planting event.
By one little step together we create a healthy, sustainable environment that increases quality of life, civic engagement and community pride.
So if you want to contribute to the environment and enhance the sense of community, let’s start from planting trees. And who knows, maybe others will follow.
