Today, we celebrate two important days: NGOs Day and Miina Sillanpää Day. These days highlight the immense significance of civic engagement and the valuable legacy of Miina Sillanpää, one of the most influential social advocates in Finnish history. Like many of us involved in NGO work, Miina Sillanpää was a determined and dedicated individual who tirelessly worked for a fairer and better life for everyone. Her contributions continue to impact the NGO sector and our society today.
Miina Sillanpää was Finland's first female minister and a prominent social advocate who dedicated her life to improving the rights of workers, especially women and children. She was known for her bold and uncompromising work in promoting equality and social justice, and her achievements serve as an inspiration for many social activists today.
At House of Helsinki, we promote active participation and two-way integration by creating spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can meet, form connections, and engage actively in society. We are committed to providing an environment where everyone's experiences, cultures, and languages are valued. This enables dialogue and mutual understanding, which strengthens community and societal participation at all levels. On NGOs Day, we would like to extend our thanks to all NGOs, volunteers, and activists for their vital work in promoting the well-being of Finland.
